Science and Technology both hold a place of very high regard in our society. We depend upon science to come up with cures for diseases, to help us live longer, to even solve crimes. Whether it is the social sciences, life science, medical technology or information technology, they all play a very important role in our lives. Though it might not be fair to do so, we also look to science to explain the human condition and to help predict the future in regards to human behavior. We categorize this latter type of science as the social sciences.
Social sciences are simply the study of human beings in their various habitats and cultures. Social sciences, which typically fall under this category, include the study of sociology, psychology, education, economics, anthropology, history and political science. The social sciences use both empirical (quantitative methods) and qualitative methods (interviews) to study human beings. Social scientists also use the scientific method. Another type of prominent of science includes the life sciences. The life sciences have very recently when very connected with medical technology. The life sciences study human organisms and include the study of biology and biological sciences. Medical technology in recent years has exploded. That community has been able to clone animals and come up with cures for various diseases. It continues to forge on with support of the global community. Information technology has also seen great growth in a very sort period of time. In the last ten years alone the internet has become a dominant force in most people’s lives.
